Accountability and Justification

This session is aimed understanding the depth required and the amount of detail needed in relation to accounting or justifying action taken. Anecdotally this is weaker area for private security. When delivered in the modular style it brings together previous learning by offering generic and subjective advice and direction in relation to the level of detail needed to adequately report, account or justify any action that you take when you deal with an incident or individual. These are known as the ‘impact factors’. This is an unusual subject in that the report matter is totally subjective, and the individual only can decide what they feel is relevant to include in a report. Hence the need for specific training. This training will provide staff the tools to report any action taken in whatever circumstances. It highlights the importance of reporting in as much detail as is possible. This is even more so when immediate action or force is used, and an individual must account for their actions and then justify using powers (legislation) and policies. This does not need to be a criminal or operational event. It’s all about saying what you did, why you did it and why you didn’t do something else.
